Shortage of chemical engineers in US

President Obama, on June 13th, called on the US to train 10,000 new engineers every year. Andrew Liveris, chief executive officer of global company Dow Chemical, is reported on CBS saying that there is a major shortage in the US of qualified staff, forcing his company to move operations overseas. In relation to chemical engineers, he says: "The starting salary of a chemical engineer is $85,000," he said. "And I can't get chemical engineers."
