Both second and fourth year Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Engineering students with Sandra Lenihan (lecturer), visited Janssen Biologics in Ringaskiddy, recently. Initially a brief presentation on Janssen Biologics, their products and corresponding process trains was given. The site visit covered both upstream and downstream biopharmaceutical processing whereby the students could see all key unit operations such as wavebags, bioreactors, filtration and chromatography skids.
The Janssen Biologics (previously Centocor) plant is a world class manufacturing facility for the production of monoclonal antibodies.
