Janina Zambrzycka has been presented with the Denise O’Dea Perpetual Trophy for obtaining best marks in first year of the chemical and biopharmaceutical engineering degree. Janina is a native of Poland but moved to Ireland several years ago where she attended Christ the King in Cork, achieving 565 points in the Leaving Certificate. She is currently concluding her second year.
The Denise O’Dea Perpetual Trophy commemorates one of our students who died suddenly after a very short illness, immediately prior to her graduation. The Trophy was created by Donnacha Cahill, an artist living in Athenry, Co. Galway, and is based on a photograph of Denise working in the chemical engineering laboratory.
