The Niall Condon Pfizer Chemical Process Safety Medal has been awarded to Michael Gilroy, currently in third year chemical engineering. Michael is from the Midleton area and went to school in St. Colman’s in Midleton. Michael was selected to be awarded the medal following interviews of those achieving high marks in second year chemical engineering. Michael will be undertaking an internship in Pfizer, in the field of chemical process safety, and will have the opportunity to undertake his final year project on this topic with Pfizer. He is no stranger to process safety, having worked for the summer at the end of second year with Phillips66’s refinery in Whitegate. The Medal is sponsored by Pfizer and named after Niall Condon, Pfizer’s VP for Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Operations. Niall was the first CIT chemical engineering graduate.
