Double award for Michael Gilroy, 2017

Michael Gilroy was awarded Best Level 8 Graduate in the Department of Process, Energy & Transport Engineering at the recent Faculty of Engineering & Science Awards. This award is based on Michael’s achievement in his 2017 final year examinations and projects. Shown in the image below, along with Michael, are Mr. Matt Cottrell, Head of School, Dr, Michael J. O’Mahony, Head of Department and Mr. Michael Loftus, Head of Faculty.
Michael has also been awarded the ESAI CIT Level 8 Undergraduate of the Year Award, 2017, based on his final year project. This is awarded to the best student from each third level institute for their contribution to the environmental field in Ireland. Michael’s project was entitled: Investigation of Pressure-Retarded Osmosis (PRO) as a means of harvesting sustainable energy.
This Award was presented by Dr. Joe Harrington, a member of the ESAI Council. Also in the photograph are Dr. Aisling O’Gorman, Michael’s project supervisor and Dr. Phil Kelly from Teagasc who mentored the project.
