Chem Eng CIT participated in an excellent workshop entitled “ Bench to Batch to Continuous Manufacturing – Continuous Drug Product & Understanding your Process” last December in Cork hosted by the PMTC. Over forty personnel attended from various pharmaceutical processing facilities. PMTC were delighted to have Professor Thomas De Beer, Ghent University, Belgium, discussing and sharing his case studies in switching from batch to continuous pharmaceutical drug product manufacturing. Also sharing their research were SSPC, UL - Multi-Phase Transport Processes to Enable Automation in Manufacturing. Dr Abina Crean, PMTC, School of Pharmacy, UCC, gave insights into the compaction of lubricated pharmaceutical blends. Dr Sandra Lenihan , PMTC, Chemical Engineering, CIT, talked about Powder Modelling for Tabletting. While Dr Alexander Krok, Research Fellow PMTC, School of Engineering, CIT delivered a presentation on Multiphysical FEM modelling of powder compaction process.
