Google Apps
Description:
Google Apps is a suite of on-line applications that exist to support teamwork and cooperative work/learning. Consider, a team-based activity that might need to produce a report as an end result. Instead of team-members emailing versions and trying to keep track of who has made what changes and which is the most recent version, you can create a single document and share that with the team. Selected individuals can then view and edit this document. In this way, Google apps can simplify the collaboration process and also help instructors monitor team activity and individual inputs into certain team activities. To start the process, the instructor can provide document or website templates for the teams, add collaborators and send this information. Alternatively, the team may create the document or website from existing templates and add the instructor as a collaborator. In either case, Google host the service and it is free of charge to CIT. Additional information may be found from the TLU workshop ‘Teamwork through Google Apps’ or by contacting the Teaching and Learning Unit.
