
Stephen Cassidy currently holds the position of Head of Teaching & Learning at Cork Institute of Technology. In this role, he is responsible for managing, promoting and facilitating the development of effective learning, teaching and assessment strategies within the Institute. He is a board member of two Strategic Innovation Funded collaborative projects in the area of teaching and learning, namely, National Academy Integration of Research in Teaching & Learning (NAIRTL) and the Learning Innovation Network (LIN). His current interests are in the areas of curriculum design; teaching with technology and student centred learning.
Stephen holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from NUI Galway and is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has supervised a number of postgraduate students in his specialist research areas of heat transfer and sustainable energy.

Tom O’Mahony is a lecturer within the Dept. of Electronic Engineering. He mostly teaches third and fourth year students enrolled on the Department’s Level 7 and Level 8 courses. His research interests include developments in engineering education and cooperative learning and utilises enquiry and project based learning extensively in all his teaching.
He received a PhD in 2002 from Cork Institute of Technology and currently supervises one PhD student and two MEng students. Over the past five years he has authored or co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications.

Gearóid Ó Súilleabháin is the elearning projects manager for the DEIS Department of Education Development (see http://deis.cit.ie) in the Cork Institute of Technology where he also works as a lecturer in modules relating to the fields of education, educational psychology and elearning. He had been working in the field of educational technology for over 12 years and has over this time published and presented extensively on a range of topics. He is currently undertaking a Phd on the use of computer and video games to facilitate the transfer of learning.

Tim Horgan is a lecturer in the Department of Computing and has experience of teaching in both the second and third level sectors. Within his own department Tim teaches subjects related to networking and system administration. He has always had a keen interests in learning technologies and has used and managed systems such as Top Class, Moodle, WebCT and Blackboard. He has taken this experience and built on it by delivering workshops and presentations on newer learning technologies as part of his work with the Teaching and Learning Unit.

Catherine Frehill is a lecturer within the Dept. of Applied Physics and Instrumentation where she lecturers in modules relating to the area of Project Management and Applied Physics. Catherine currently holds the position of Module Moderator, in the Office of the Registrar & VP for Academic Affairs where she is responsible for module development and quality within Cork Institute of Technology. Catherine is currently interested in the areas of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Enquiry Based Learning.
Catherine holds a PhD from Dublin City University.
