The debut solo exhibition by CIT Registrar’s Prize Winner 2010

Exhibition runs from 23rd March – 2nd April, open week days.

"Places In Mind", the debut solo exhibition of 2010 CIT Registrar's Prize Winner Patsy Hennessy, opened at the James Barry Exhibition Centre, CIT Bishopstown Campus on Tuesday 22nd March. The Exhibition continues until April 2nd.

Cork Institute of Technology's Registrar's Prize was established in 2000, to give recognition to one exceptional graduate each year in the Department of Fine Art at CIT Crawford College of Art and Design.

Patsy Hennessy lives at Coolagown, near Fermoy. She graduated from CIT Crawford College of Art and Design in June 2010 with a BA (Honours) in Fine Art and a sold-out Degree Show. Her work was selected for the Office of Public Works Purchase Prize 2010, the CIT Registrar’s Prize 2010, and the Lavit Gallery Fledglings Exhibition.

The Irish Landscape inspires her work, in particular that of Cork and Kerry. A recent trip to Lough Erne in Co. Fermanagh has provided additional fuel for the imagination. Patsy¹s painting process involves the use of texture and layering of paint and materials in an effort to convey a sense of history in the land, responding to places of special significance and evoking the sense of a landscape that is both past and present.

CIT Registrar and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr Barry O'Connor said: "Patsy Hennessy is to be congratulated on developing her talent to such a high standard. She joins the ranks of successful CIT CCAD graduates whose artistic prowess adds so much to the cultural milieu that is the Cork arts scene. We wish her and her fellow graduates continued success."
