It is the ideal opportunity for prospective students, their parents and Guidance Counsellors, to sample the enormous range of courses and facilities on offer. The National Maritime College of Ireland, based at Ringaskiddy, will be represented in the Bishopstown campus.

CIT offers sixty-nine CAO course options for 2012 and with its rapidly expanding campuses; it is an exciting place to be.

Throughout the day, CIT will be holding an extensive range of activities which will be particularly beneficial to students selecting higher education courses and planning their future careers. The main features of the Open Day will be a Careers Exhibition and a series of information sessions, workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions of student work and laboratory visits which will take place in the various departments throughout the various campuses. Students will have the opportunity of meeting with lecturers and students who will answer queries. Current students will be on hand to recount their own personal experiences and offer advice. The visiting public will also have the opportunity to view the extensive facilities available in CIT including facilities for extra-curricular activities. Organised tours will also be available in order to allow students to get a feel for the CIT campuses.

Dr Barry O'Connor, CIT's Registrar and Vice President for Academic Affairs welcomes prospective students, their parents and Guidance Counsellors: "Visiting CIT, students will see a vibrant modern campus with a full range of facilities designed to give students the best experience possible of third level education. In CIT the student and student facilities are the focal points for all campus activities.

During our Open Day, staff will be on hand to outline the ever-expanding range of programmes and programme options available in our catalogue of offerings from undergraduate through to postgraduate. Recognised as the single biggest centre of engineering education on the island of Ireland, CIT also continues to diversify and develop new programmes across the key areas of business, science - including IT - arts/humanities and the social sciences. Our modularised and semesterised structure allows students the possibility of customising their studies by availing of Free Choice Modules across each year of their studies."
