Event: CIT Cork School of Music Gets All Jazzed Up!

CIT Cork School of Music will host a number of free events this month as part of the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival including a guitar workshop with jazz legend, Al Di Meola.

CSM will host a lecture "Jazz ... Art or Entertainment" by renowned Jazz educator, Dr Ian Darrington, in the Stack Theatre, Wednesday, October 21st at 1pm

The following day, October 22nd, there will be a lunchtime performance by the Neil O'Loughlin Trio in the foyer of the School of Music at 1pm.

Friday sees a performance by the West Georgia University Percussion Ensemble (USA) and the Ampleforth College Big Band (UK) in the Curtis Auditorium at 1pm.

Later on Friday night, in the Stack Theatre, there will be a Guitar Workshop with Al Di Meola.

Di Meola has explored a variety of styles, but is most noted for his Latin-influenced jazz fusion works.
Al Di Meola holds the most prestigious guitar awards (of any guitarist in the world) from the highest rated guitar poll in the world, Guitar Player Magazine. The workshop is free and begins at 8pm.

 

In the Curtis Auditorium on Saturday, October 24th at 10.30am and again at 12.00 noon the ever popular Cork School of Music Big Band, under the baton of musical director John O¹Connor, will perform Music from the Films.

Saxophone soloist is Karl Rooney.

All tickets are €7.50 and are available from the School's office or at the door.
