External Scholarships

There are a number of funding schemes for postgraduate students. The majority of these are external schemes and the competition is open to both the Institutes of Technology and the Universities. The following are details on some of the funding opportunities that arise throughout the year. Where possible, links are given for further information on the schemes.

Fulbright Commission Awards

The Irish - US Fulbright Commission's annual Awards Programme enables students and scholars to undertake study, research or lecturing at a college in the United States. Applicants must be in a position to outline a clearly defined course of study or research and must obtain their own placements in the US. All Fulbright awards are for one year. However, students pursuing postgraduate degrees will normally retain their Fulbright visa status in the US for the full duration of their studies.
