Munster Technological University

Munster Technological University is a multi-campus technological university, contributing to the region through the provision of academic programmes that support student development and opportunities, education and research. MTU has an extensive and impressive regional footprint with six campuses across the South-West region in Cork and Kerry, and a student body of 18,000.

 

MTU has six principal campuses

  • MTU Bishopstown Campus situated in the suburbs of Cork city
  • MTU Kerry North Campus situated in Tralee, Co. Kerry
  • MTU Kerry South Campus situated in Tralee, Co. Kerry
  • MTU Cork School of Music situated in Cork city
  • MTU Crawford College of Art & Design situated in Cork city
  • National Maritime College of Ireland situated in Ringaskiddy, Cork Harbour

MTU Bishopstown Campus

The Bishopstown Campus is the main centre of our Cork campuses, and is the location for courses in Business, Science, Computing, Engineering, Media Communications, and Humanities.

Also located here are Student Services, Administration, Research Centres, and Industry Support Centres. The Bishopstown Campus is situated in the western suburbs of Cork City. Leisureworld Sports Centre, which includes both a 25m and an 18m swimming pool, is right next door. Just a few minutes walk away are the suburbs of Bishopstown and Wilton with shops, restaurants and sports facilities. The city centre is just a short bus ride away.

MTU Kerry North Campus

MTU Kerry South Campus

MTU Kerry campsues have three principal schools, i.e. School of Business, Computing & Humanities, School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics and School of Health & Social Sciences.  It conducts an extensive range of courses, comprising two year certificates and building thereon, three year Ordinary Degrees; four year Honours Degree, Masters and PhD.  The Institute also conducts a wide range of craft, apprentice, ACCS and life-long learning / part-time programmes.

MTU Crawford College of Art & Design

This is a self-contained College of MTU, located in Sharman Crawford Street, within easy walking distance of the city centre. The Department of Fine Art & Applied Art offers Honours Degree programmes in Fine Art and in Contemporary Applied Art (Ceramics, Glass, Textiles). The Department of Media Communications, based at the Bishopstown campus, offers Honours Degree programmes in Creative Digital Media and Visual Communications. Postgraduate programmes in Fine Art, Art Education, and Art Therapy are based in the city centre campus at No. 46 Grand Parade.

MTU Cork School of Music

This is a constituent school of MTU, located at Union Quay, Cork city, and provides Honours Degree programmes in Music, Theatre & Drama, and Popular Music. The School also has a wide range of MA and PhD degrees.

The CSM provides the internationally renowned staff of Ireland’s largest conservatory of music and drama with the very best of facilities to ensure that many more students are able to pursue their studies. The CSM has many award winning bands, chamber music ensembles, choirs, drama groups, opera groups, and orchestras.

National Maritime College of Ireland

This purpose built College is on a 10 acre campus and located 18km from Cork city, in Ringaskiddy. The NMCI provides education services of the highest quality and includes Degree programmes in Nautical Science, Marine, Engineering, and Marine Electrotechnology. Specialist spaces including survival facilities, seamanship and shipwrights’ workshops, bridge simulators, fire-fighting/damage control, jetty and lifeboat facilities and engine room are provided.

MTU Blackrock Castle Observatory

In an exciting collaboration between MTU, Cork City Council, and a private benefactor, Blackrock Castle was re-opened to the public in November 2007 as MTU Blackrock Castle Observatory, the Space for Science.

The science centre promotes science, engineering and technology in Ireland as a centre of excellence in scientific research, education and outreach and continues to bring science education back down to Earth, making it accessible for all.
