HR Excellence in Research

Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) was granted the prestigious EURAXESS HR Excellence in Research award in February 2017 in recognition of its commitment to implementing the principles of the European Charter & Code for Researchers.  Institutions that have been awarded the right to use the icon can use it to highlight their commitment to implement fair and transparent recruitment and appraisal procedures for researchers. Integral to the process was the development, publication and implementation of a comprehensive CIT HRS4R Strategy and Action Plan

Following a successful Interim Review in March 2019, CIT was deemed to have met the criteria to maintain the HRS4R badge. CIT became Munster Technological University (MTU) on 1st January 2021, having merged with the Institute of Technology, Tralee. On 23rd March 2021 the HRS4R badge was extended to MTU until the next review on 28 April 2024, giving time to MTU to harmonise the HR practices and submit the renewal as MTU. Consequently, we are currently working on the development and implementation of an updated action plan, with relevant information about how the HRS4R process has been cascaded.

The original and Updated Strategy and Action Plans (to March 2019) are available below. MTU is committed to continuing its engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best possible working conditions and career development for its researchers.
