This strategic plan will then be implemented across an interactive and dynamic software simulation where participants will see the outcome of their decisions.
Students will gain hands-on experience with a wide variety of strategy models and become proficient in a broad strategy model toolkit that they can implement in their workplace. This programme will expose students to all stages of the strategy cycle, and the reflective nature of the programme assessment will ensure students take their learning back to their workplace.
Overview of Programme
The programme consists of one ten credit module – Corporate Strategy Simulation
The module will develop students knowledge and understanding of strategic analysis models by completing a business situational analysis and developing a proposed implementation plan. Students will then follow their strategic plan across several cycles of a strategy simulation. Students working in groups will experience challenging and dynamic board room discussions, developing their corporate strategy knowledge and soft skills. The reflective assessment elements of the module reinforce student learning ensuring lessons are learnt from all decisions made.
Following an overview of the relevant strategy models, students will prepare a presentation outlining their proposed strategy for the simulated organisation. After the simulation sessions, students will then prepare a comprehensive analysis of their performance with reference to the concepts of planned versus emergent strategies. The final assessment element is a reflective journal allowing students to reflect upon their learning and apply it to their workplace or experience.
