Admission Requirements:

Applicants should hold a minimum of a NFQ Level 7 qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architecture or Architectural Technology or in a cognate discipline. 

Course summary

This newly developed course, will cover design using fire safety engineering principles, together with prescriptive design of several building types, and should be invaluable to both new users of the relevant fire safety codes and standards, and those that may enjoy a refresher course. All building designers and many contractors will find this short course useful, particularly those involved in fire safety design, and certification of building projects.

Students should note that Fees quoted relate to the academic year 2018-2019 only and are subject to change on an annual basis. Except where stated, course fees cover the cost of tuition only. 

Course fees must be paid before attending lectures.

An Information/Registration session will take place on Wednesday 5th September 2018 from 6.00pm to 8.00pm at the CIT Bishopstown Campus. Institute staff will be in attendance to offer career guidance and assistance.

1. MODE A: ATTENDANCE AT CIT

Delivery – On-Campus Attendance:

Typically, the hours will be 6pm – 10pm Friday evenings and 9am – 2pm Saturdays for a total of four weekends, please click on lecture schedule link for exact dates. 2. MODE B: ONLINE DELIVERY

The online delivery course will be offered over a 13 week period, one evening (provisionally Wednesdays 6pm - 9pm, including tutorials) per week.

Lectures may be viewed live, with interaction opportunities available via questions typed in at the keyboard by registered students, or may be viewed on the lecture recordings which will be made available for the duration of the semester. Attendance at CIT Bishopstown Campus in week 14 or 15 for a terminal examination assessment of 2 hours duration will be required.

AWARD

Single Module Certification (5 ECTS credits at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications).
