“SR Technics Airfoil Services in Cork repair commercial jet engine airfoils for some of the world’s most prestigious airlines and overhaul shops. The work carried out at the facility is exacting, critical and highly skilled. When we began our lean journey we were fortunate to team up with CAMMS MTU Cork. They have provided our staff with training and education on their courses including White Belt, Yellow Belt, Green Belt and Black Belt in the past ten years. We have found these courses to be very well fitted to our business and an excellent investment in our workforce. The delivery, scope and content of the courses more than meet our needs and we have found that any suggestions by us or our staff for program improvement has always been taken on board. In addition, CAMMS MTU Cork have been very willing to assist us with advice and expertise on many of our continuous improvement projects.” Damien Carroll, Human Resources Manager of SR Technics Airfoil Services
"I have an Honours Degree and background in technical and quality management. My most recent job was a customer support specialist for eleven years for customers of Fujitsu Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) in Ireland. In December 2010 I became unemployed. I read about the Springboard Lean Sigma Black Belt Course and with my Quality background, I immediately recognised the importance of the course in my efforts to get back into the workplace. I was very much aware of the high value that employers put on Lean and Six Sigma so I applied for the MTU Cork CAMMS Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Course and was offered a place. I was particularly impressed by expert subject tutors who delivered the various Lean Six Sigma Modules and felt that all lessons learned would be of practical benefit. My final point is that in early March I finally secured a Senior Engineering role at EMC in Co. Cork." Dave Murphy, Black Belt graduate
“The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Course is very appropriate for the current business climate, being able to help a business improve its efficiency and effectiveness is something that is very attractive to employers. I implement the knowledge I have gained on a daily basis. Having a workforce educated with Lean Six Sigma is something that can be promoted as Ireland continues to present itself as an attractive location for doing business.” Hillary Cronin, Black Belt graduate
“I came to the course with over 20 years of experience in the quality field in the electronics sector. I have been very impressed with the depth and relevance of the course content and delivery. There is a good balance of practical and theoretical work and all levels of QA experience are catered for from the novice to the experienced. The tutors are experienced practitioners of the tools and are very supportive and readily available to assist if needed.” Bernadette Barber, Black Belt graduate
“My name is Linda Brennan, I work as The Global Production and Fulfilment Director in Symantec’s Dublin office. I was recently successful in completing a Lean Sigma Black Belt certification with CAMMS, Cork Institute of Technology. Our class dynamic was a tremendous benefit to our learning as we had pupils from the service industry, security and technology to name a few. The diversity of experience, cultures, gender and age gave the learning experience a real world dynamic. This was one of the many benefits of this certification.
This certification has allowed Symantec Dublin utilise The DMAIC cycle to create a cohesive approach to improvements in our business. We speak a common language, share common measurements, work on improve processes not just tasks. It removed the fear of change as we are now part of deciding what change makes sense to complete. It has given us to tools to be confident in sharing our stories to other to get buy-in and remove fear.
MTU Cork has remained a colleague in our journey and has continued to give us the support and courage to make change happen.” Linda Brennan, Director Q2C Production and Fulfilment Readiness, Symantec Inc.
