Due to increasing uptake in Chemical Engineering, the first year class had to be split between Little Island (Dr Ann Toebes) and Ringskiddy (Dr Sandra Lenihan) Pfizer Sites. Dr Sandra Lenihan, Lecturer in Chemical and Biopharmaceutical Engineering, CIT said: “This was the first tour undertaken by this chemical engineering class to a chemical synthesis site. The visit has given them great focus and is an excellent induction to chemical engineering for CIT Chemical Engineering students”.
Students were attired with hard hats and safety glasses followed by safety induction in Pfizer. An overview of the company highlighting their manufacturing capabilities and operations was also delivered and refreshments provided. The students enjoyed an energetic tour around the site covering production, equipment, facilities and solvent recovery. Thanks to Tony Daly and Stephanie Kealy for an informative tour.
