Media Communications

The Department of Media Communications has in recent years grown significantly in terms of its range of programmes and in its recognition as a premier educational provider of visual communication, multimedia, journalism, public relations (with new media), radio broadcasting and e-learning in Ireland.

The Department is part of the Crawford College of Art and Design since 2010 and the programmes are offered on the CIT Bishopstown campus.

Facilities are of a high standard and include drawing, design and photographic studios, computer labs which are use for; digital media,  video editing, animation, virtual reality, programming and project development. The BA (Honours) in Multimedia programme has music technology classes delivered in the CIT Cork School of Music.

All courses maintain close links to industry involving ongoing consultation with design and media professionals ensuring that courses are targeted to ‘real world’ needs and that graduates are both highly educated and eminently employable.

Final Year Exhibitions website 2017 

You are cordially invited to 2017 Media Communication Department Events titled ‘Sonder’:

The final-year students of the BA (Hons) in Multimedia and the BA (Hons) in Visual Communications, CIT CCAD, Cork, invite you to attend their short informal oral presentations on their major projects.  
This event will take place in IT3, the Library - Berkeley Building at 6pm on Thursday, 25st of May at 6pm.The exhibition of work will be hosted in the James Barry Exhibition Centre, the Curved Gallery in the Student Centre and the Rory Gallagher Theatre in CIT’s Bishopstown Campus. 
It will run until the 1st of June.

Postgraduate Programmes

The College offers opportunities in research at Masters and Phd level, plus taught Masters such as the MA in Public Relations with New Media, and Journalism with New Media, as well as the MA in Elearning Design and Development. Two Masters programmes are also available in the art and design education area: the MA in Art & Design Education, and the MA in Teaching Visual Arts for Primary and Early Years Education.
