Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

MTU is committed to equality of opportunity for all its staff and students and promotes culture of inclusivity. A culture of inclusivity and diversity is critical to maintaining excellence in all activities where all staff and students are enabled to achieve their full potential in an environment characterised by equality of respect and opportunity.

Our mission

In MTU’s Strategic Plan, inclusivity is specifically listed as the first of five core values whereby:

‘We strive to support and nurture inclusivity, diversity and equality, recognising the value they have to the future of our students, staff and the wider community’.

Furthermore, MTU identifies the engagement and empowerment of staff as a strategic enabler, committing to actions and initiatives that seek to ensure and promote a culture of inclusion, diversity and equality where staff and students are respected and valued across the University.

In 2019, MTU Cork Campus was awarded the Bronze Athena SWAN Award. The award recognises that the Institution has a solid foundation for eliminating gender bias and developing an inclusive culture that values all staff.

Our team

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team plays a key role in ensuring the promotion and mainstreaming of equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout MTU. It drives key equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives, projects and events while also working with colleagues within and outside of MTU on the implementation of the MTU Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy.
