This course is intended for those who wish to obtain a Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) Short Range Certificate. The Short Range Certificate (SRC) has replaced the VHF operators licence, and is a legal requirement for professional mariners and recreational sailors alike. This radio operators licence is required to operate VHF radio (SRC1) and VHF DSC (SRC2) equipment. These radio regulations apply to all vessels and marine leisure craft. Please note that there is also an €44 examination fee made payable directly to the examination authority on the night of the examination.

Aims
The course is designed to teach students practical DSC alerting and marine radio procedures and techniques used in Distress, Urgency, Safety and Routine situations.
