Creative Arts

Research within the Creative Arts at Cork Institute of Technology is supported through activities at the campus in Bishopstown and in the constituent schools of Crawford College of Art and Cork School of Music. Fields of study are diverse incorporating the more traditional academic and practice based disciplines as well as interdisciplinary creative practices articulated through engagement with new technologies.

The range of research within the scope of Creative Arts includes interests such as: design for interaction; critical approaches to art & technology; communication through new media; internet based and networked art; art history; design history and cultural and media studies.

The increased research capacity within this field of creative practice is testament to the growing recognition of the scholarship that is generated through experimental practice and creative methodologies in the arts
