ABOUT RESEARCHING WITH INDUSTRY
CIT works very closely with industry, locally, regionally and nationally. CIT works with industry to develop courses, to provide employment opportunities to our students and graduates, as well as to provide opportunities for our students to gain work experience through the industry placement which most students undertake during their time in CIT.
CIT has many specialist research centers carry out research with industry. Annually CIT undertakes circa 100 collaborative projects of all sizes for industry across a wide spectrum of disciplines, and oftentimes are multidiciplinary in nature and approach.
Innovation Vouchers:
The innovation voucher scheme in an Enterprise Ireland scheme to build links between Ireland's public Knowledge providers (i.e. Higher education institutes, public research bodies) and small businesses. Innovation vouchers worth €5,000 are available to assist a company or companies to explore a business opportunity or problem with a registered knowladge provider.
The innovation voucher scheme is open to all small and medium sized limited companies registered in Ireland. CIT is one of the top three providers of Innovation Vouchers of the 37 knowledge providers on the island of Ireland, having delivered over 350 projects since the scheme began.
Since 2018 Small and medium sized IDA companies (employing less than 250 people on site in Ireland) are also eligible to apply for an Innovation Voucher.For further information on Innovation Vouchers click here. Innovation Partnership Scheme:
The Innovation Partnership programme encourages Irish-based companies to work with Irish higher education institutes resulting in mutually beneficial cooperation and interaction. Companies can access expertise and resources to develop new and improved products, processes, services and generate new knowledge and know-how. The participating company benefits in terms of its growth, the evolution of its strategic research and development and the creation of new knowledge that it can use to generate commercial advantage. The education institute benefits in terms of developing skill sets, intellectually property, publications and increased linkages with industry.
The application process to Enterprise Ireland and the administration of the project is managed by the education institue.To be eligible a company must be a registered client of one of the following state development agencies: Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, Udaras na Gealtachta, Local Enterprise Office.
Manufacturing or intellectually traded services companies with an operating base in the Republic of Ireland are eligible to participate. The Innovation Partnership Programme provides grants of up to 80% towards eligible costs of the research project. Enterprise Partnership Scheme:
Enterprise partnership scheme is an innovative initiative through which the Irish Research Council for Science, Engineering & Technology (IRCSET) links with private enterprise and eligible public bodies to award co-founded postgraduate scholarships and postdoctoral fellowships to most promising researchers in Ireland. IRCSET contributes two thirds of every award with the enterprise partner contributing the remaining one third amount.
The scheme offers researchers the opportunity to gain additional beneficial experience and insight into the commercial arena while completing their research. It provides industry witH flexible and easy access to an exceptional pool of competitively selected, high calibre researchers and the opportunity to build links with relevant academic research groups. The scheme facilitates the establishment of new relationships and the strengthening of existing relationships between industry and academia.
