“Many students have the talent and aptitude to study engineering, science, technology, and computing”, says Michael Loftus, Head of Faculty of Engineering & Science at Cork Institute of Technology. Mr Loftus, a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Irish Computer Society, who worked in industry for over 15 years before taking up a post in Academia, says that careers in all of these areas provide exciting opportunities for men and women alike. “While men continue to be attracted to study in these areas, more and more women are being attracted into both new, and traditional, courses,” he says.

Selecting the engineering, science, technology or computing courses that best fit their abilities can be a challenge for students. In order to demystify the relevant areas, and to provide guidance to students interested in studying at degree level, CIT has created another series of their enormously successful roadshows to help ensure that they, their supporters, teachers and guidance counsellors, can explore their options in a friendly environment in which they can engage with current students, past graduates and CIT lecturers.  The CIT Engineering, Science & Technology Roadshow will travel to areas of County Cork during the months of November and January.

CIT has been remarkably successful in producing numerous National and European award winners in Engineering, Science and Technology. In addition, it wins multimillion euro research funding on an annual basis. The CIT Engineering, Science & Technology Roadshow has been designed to provide participants with access to CIT’s accumulated experience in guiding students and in shaping them for successful careers.
