Money Matters - Study Exchanges

All students participating in the Erasmus programme are entitled to apply for Erasmus funding to support the additional costs of studying abroad.  Please note that the Erasmus grant is not a full scholarship, and therefore students will need to have their own financial resources in addition to the grant in order to meet their expenses during the Erasmus period.

SUSI/Local Authority Grant Entitlement during Erasmus Period

Students who receive a SUSI or other educational grant to attend MTU, or who have a MTU registration fee waiver, are entitled to retain these entitlements whilst on Erasmus. One grant does not cancel out the other. Students must be registered for their MTU course before they are entitled to do an Erasmus study exchange. The host Erasmus institutions are not allowed to charge registration or tuition fees to Erasmus students.  However, students going to Germany are required to pay “social fees” for each semester. These cover a local transport season ticket and Students’ Union fees.
