Look Beyond The Label > new exhibition at the James Barry Exhibition Centre

This thought provoking show is now open in The James Barry Exhibition Centre, CIT Bishopstown Campus.
Open 9:30am to 5:30pm until Thursday 13th December

Cllr. Jim Corr Chairman of the CIT Arts Committee officially opened the show on the 10th December,  and spoke very highly of the work on display. Congratulations to lecturer Evelyn Egan Rainy and the students (Year 2 of the BA in Social Care programme) who involved in this project.

The work on exhibit, is in the form of book-arts and installations, based on their personal experience, while on placement in the Social Care Sector. The initial objective was for each student to develop a deeper understanding of the difficulties and challenges faced by people in their care. The completed 2D/3D Art pieces are theme-based, with a subtle, thought-provoking social message and accompanying text.  Another point of note is that many of the students have had little or no previous Art experience. Each Art piece on exhibit is a journey of reflection and the viewer is invited to also reflect on some of life's challenges faced by people in the Social Care sector.
