The Swiss/Irish Guitar Orchestra, The Diversus Guitar Ensemble are performing in the Curtis Auditorium, CIT Cork School of Music on Saturday next, November 7th @ 8.00 pm.  Directions to CIT Cork School of Music

They are in Cork at the invitation of Guitar Lecturer Jerry Creedon.
 
In a unique collaborative venture, the group will be playing 2 new works by young CIT Cork School of Music composers Patrick O'Connor and Sam Barker. These musicians have worked on creating a suite based upon a new theme by fiddler Zoe Conway, and the result will be a wonderful surprise. Patrick O’Connor is a 3rd Year Music Degree student and Sam Barker is a Masters student in Composition. Two 2nd year Music Degree students, David Keating and Aengus Kirakowski, will also be joining The Diversus Guitar Ensemble for a national tour in Cork, Limerick, Laois and Bray this week.

The tour is directed by Brendan Walsh. The programme will also include a Symphony by Haydn, Preludes by Debussy, Sea Changes by Raymond Deane and two songs: 'A Day in the Life' by The Beatles and Abigail Smith's 'Light a Match', as well as a new work by Piaras Hoban for guitar orchestra, which will include 21 different player parts!
 
The Orchestra leader of this tour will be young Swiss virtuoso Raoul Morat and they will also be joined by the stunning voice of Georgia Cusack who is just back from her studies at Berkley College, USA.
 
The ranks of the Orchestra have grown to over 20 strong and comprise of some serious home talent and some of the best international players including former leader Ross O'Farrell, active Rock and Jazz players Greg Clifford and Gavin Quinn, International competition winners Harold Gretton (Austria); Ricardo Escobar (USA); the vastly experienced ensemble guitarist Jens Groos (Germany) who is a member of the Anemos Guitar Quartet along with some of the most exceptionally talented young players such as Veronique van Duurling (Belgium); Kamal Abdul Malak (France); and David Keating (Ireland).
