Event: Geoff Steiner Scott's Exhibition at the CIT CSM
Tuesday, 13 April 2010
12th April to 5th JuneMonday to Friday 8.30am - 10.00pm > Saturday & Sunday 9.00am - 5.00pm This exhibition will show the work he has done since retiring from CIT in 2007. As he says himself, “these are modest paintings at modest prices, painted for pleasure and meant to be enjoyed”. Geoff is perhaps best known as a printmaker and was a lecturer in printmaking at the National College of Art & Design and the CIT Crawford College of Art & Design before his appointment as Principal of the CCAD. However, he has always painted and was a student of the renowned artist, Leon Golub. Geoff will be showing 26 new paintings, all done in acrylics on canvas. |
The economic downturn has seen a decline in the art market, and the number of exhibitions and exhibition venues has suffered as a consequence. The closure of the Fenton and Vangard galleries has been a real blow to the cultural life of Cork. But the CIT Cork School of Music continues to serve the city with a busy schedule of exhibitions, open to the public and free of charge. Geoff is pleased to be exhibiting his new work in this beautiful and easily accessible building on the banks of the Lee. Don’t miss it.
