Programmes and Initiatives
THE MTU JOINT MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME
The MTU Joint Mentorship Programme is a student employer engagement initiative which aims to match current students with professionals (the majority of whom are graduates), from a wide range of sectors to exchange business experience, knowledge, expertise and career advice. The initiative aims to enhance connections between MTU students and alumni in relevant industries as well as encouraging and supporting engagement between the University and the alumni community.
The Programmes offers the opportunity for organisations to build their brand further at the MTU, share job prospects with current students in a competitive recruitment market and influence the workforce of the future.
The MTU Joint Mentorship Programme is in its 10th year and is a voluntary, extra-curricular activity for students. It is facilitated by the Alumni Office and the Careers Service at MTU.
The 2022-2023 programme will run for a six-month period from October/November 2022 to March/April 2023, with one-to-one mentoring sessions between Mentors and Mentees on a monthly basis. A flexible approach is offered with regards to monthly contact which involved face-to-face contact, emails, skype and phone calls. Upon completion of the Mentorship Programme, Mentees and Mentors will be awarded a certificate of participation at the closing event in April 2023.

MTU Student Alumni Ambassador Programme: Providing you with meaningful leadership opportunities
The MTU Student Alumni Ambassador Programme brings together a select, diverse group of students from all different areas, disciplines and backgrounds to engage with alumni, prospective students, MTU officials and, most importantly, fellow students. Student Alumni Ambassadors encourage the current student population to see themselves as future alumni (graduates) and valuable members of the MTU community as well as providing invaluable insight and feedback on student interests and trends. You will be part of exciting activities designed to connect students with alumni, help students as they begin to think about their careers and celebrate what it means to be a MTU alumnus (graduate).
How the Programme works?
MTU Student Alumni Ambassadors donate 10 hours of their time throughout the academic year to support the activities of the Alumni Office and in return receive various up-skilling and training, an opportunity to meet the President of the University, a LinkedIn recommendation and a certificate of completion. It is a volunteer position.
What are the benefits?

- Opportunity to participate in various training and attend up-skilling events
- Invitation to participate Alumni Office meetings
- Branded apparel
MEET THE GRADUATE
The MTU Alumni Office creates opportunities for graduates to revisit MTU through a “Meet the Graduate” initiative. The aim of the initiative is to reconnect with alumni and to enhance the current MTU student experience.
We ask graduates to share their career journey with current MTU students through role model seminars, workshops or café conversations. It is an opportunity for graduates to promote graduate programmes and vacancies on behalf of their organisations, and give assistance to current students in a fun and engaging manner. Each session is targeted to relevant courses of graduates.
If you would like to support MTU students and share your career journey to date with them through the Meet the Graduate initiative, please contact us.
