Registration of New Postgraduate Research Students

Registration Renewal
All postgraduate research students are required to renew their registration at the beginning of each academic year in accordance with the Regualtions for Postgraduate Research.
Students registered before 31st August 2022: Must renew every September.
Students registered from 1st Sept 2022: Will renew in alignment with original registration date. Deadlines outlined below:

Progress Reports
All Students:
Bi-Annual Research Progress Reports reports keep the Graduate Studies Office up to date on a student's progression towards their postgraduate degree and act as a formal record.

Full Proposal
Students registered before 31st August 2022:
If, when registering, you applied with an outline proposal then you have 6 months (if PhD) or 3 months (if Masters) from your approval date on the postgraduate register to submit your full proposal.
Students registered from 1st Sept 2022:
All students must develop a self-written full proposal during their first year of their research programme. This should be submitted, with reviews, in12 months (if PhD) or 6 months (if Masters) from the registration approval date. Deadlines outlined below:

All PhD candidates must complete a Confirmation Report 18 months after their approval date on the PhD register.
Students registered from 1st Sept 2022:
All PhD candidates must complete a Mid-Term Review 24 months from their registration approval date. Deadlines outlined below:

The Graduate Studies Office Hold is applied to students who are failing to meet certain stage gates in their programme of study, such as registration renewal or progress reports. The Graduate Studies Hold is a full account hold, meaning that it prevents the student enrolling on modules, viewing results, and receiving an award. To remove the hold from your account please submit your outstanding documentation.
