Cilian Ó Súilleabhain

Cilian Ó Súilleabháin graduated with an honours degree in chemical engineering from University College Dublin in 1984.  He worked first in Waterford Crystal and Angus Fine Chemicals.  He combined the roles of production and engineering manager in Arran Chemicals in Athlone for 6 years; this involved plant start up and numerous process start-ups as well as obtaining ISO 9001 accreditation.  Cilian spent 3 years with IDC as a design engineer working on a number of Intel projects in Ireland and the U.S.A.

Cilian managed four conferences on behalf of the Irish Centre for Membrane Technology during 2007 and 2008. 

In 2011 he graduated with an M.A. in Management in Education from WIT.  His paper "Bullying in the Workplace: a case study of a single College" was presented at the Irish Academy of Management in 2010. 

Cilian has been with CIT since 1997.   He is currently co-ordinator for the first year of the BEng (Hons) in Chemical and BioPharmaceutical Engineering.  Cilian and Noel Duffy organise work placements for the third year students.

Current final year research projects are concerned with reactions in plug-flow reactors, suspensionof particles and industrial projects concerning the use of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) to monitor drying processes and to characterise powders.
