The Organisation
The National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) is located in Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork and provides training and education for the Merchant Marine and the non-military training needs of the Irish Naval Service. A constituent college of Cork Institute of Technology, the NMCI provides career-focused education for the maritime industry and related sectors.
The Role
Cork Institute of Technology wishes to appoint a Head of College who will provide the strategic leadership and management of all aspects of the College, ensuring its continuing development and further establishment as a key contributor to the growth of the maritime economy in Ireland. The appointee will lead the growth and further development of the NMCI establishing it as a centre of excellence, both nationally and internationally, through strategic marketing, stakeholder advocacy and strategic alliances.
The Individual
The appointee should have a track record in senior management and/or an established leadership role in the public sector/higher education, within the maritime industry or in a closely related sector. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with the drive and energy to add value and meet long term strategic goals. Excellent managerial, planning and organisational skills are a prerequisite as are outstanding communication skills. An ability to influence and inspire a strong ethos of service excellence, quality assurance and appropriate governance is essential.
