Cork Institute of Technology, which incorporates the CIT Crawford College of Art and Design, CIT Cork School of Music and the National Maritime College of Ireland, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the following positions.

 

  1. Postgraduate PhD Studentship – Sediment Uses as Resources in Circular and Territorial Economies Project - SURICATES Project


    Project Description

    The SURICATES project will involve the study and analysis of the use of dredged sediment for flood protection and erosion control. The project is funded through the EU Interreg NWE Programme. There are 11 project partners from industry and research institutions involved in the project including from France, Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands.

    The project will build on the extensive research, database and knowledge developed here at CIT over the past 15 years in this research area.
    Note: This is a funded research project with the postgraduate fees paid by the project. 

  2. Postgraduate Masters Studentship – Sediment Monitoring, Modelling & Behaviour for the Post-River Improvement Works Condition on the River Bandon, Ireland


    Project Description

    This project will involve the monitoring, assessment and modelling of sediments on the River Bandon. The project will commence in September 2018. The project is supported and funded by Byrne Looby Partners Consulting Engineers and is designed to support the on-going river improvement works on the River Bandon. The project will build on the extensive research, database and knowledge developed by CIT over the past decade on this river.

    CIT currently operates a continuous turbidity monitoring station and an automatic water sampler on the river and has previously studied suspended and sediment data along the river to identify ‘baseline’ conditions for the river.
    Note: This is a funded research project, postgraduate fees will be paid from the project. 
     
  3.  Postgraduate Research Masters Studentship – Nutrient Recycling from pilot production to farms and fields - ReNu2Farm

    Project Description

    The ReNu2Farm project will involve exploring the demand for nutrients and organic matter at farm and regional level with the aim to make a map of regions in NWE EU with their specific nutrient and organic matter demand. The project is funded through the EU Interreg NWE Programme.

    There are 10 project partners from industry and research institutions involved in the project including from Germany (2), France (1), Ireland (3), the Netherlands (1), Belgium (2) and Luxemburg (1).
    Note: This is a funded research project with the postgraduate fees paid by the project.
