Led by Dr Janette Walton, CIT are a partner in this important national research on the dietary intake of the Irish population and its impact on nutrition and health. A key focus of the research since its foundation has been the development in the Republic of Ireland of national databases of dietary intake and health status through national nutrition surveys of the population from age 1 to 90 years. These databases are used widely for research related to nutrition, public health and food safety, and support the work of agencies that are responsible for food and nutrition policy and regulation in Ireland and the EU.
