Dungeon and Turret Tours
‘Behind the scenes’ tours of the dungeon and turret will bring you on a journey into the history of Blackrock Castle. Over 400 years ago, the fortification was built on the River Lee site where the narrowing channel leads to Cork, and it has been part of the city’s history ever since. The fort served as a watchtower, enabling a safe passage for friendly ships and warding off invaders. Today, MTU BCO is a watchtower of the skies: a research observatory and a centre for science.
