CIT Open Day 2018

Published on: Monday, 05 November 2018

Each year Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) holds a number of Open Days across the four Campuses; Bishopstown, CIT Crawford College of Art and Design (CCAD), CIT Cork School of Music (CSM) and National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI).

These days provide a perfect opportunity for prospective students, and their parents, to sample the wide range of courses and facilities available across CIT.

CIT currently offers over seventy CAO course options for entry in 2019 and it is an exciting place to be for Third Level students.

The main features of the CIT Open Day usually held in November involves a Career Exhibition and series of information sessions, workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions of student work and laboratory visits that take place in the various departments across three of its four Campuses.

Students are given the opportunity to meet with lecturers who answer their queries while current students are also on hand to recount their own personal experiences and offer advice.

Prospective students are also given the opportunity to see the extensive facilities available in CIT including the best on-campus sports facilities in the country.

Organised tours are also at hand, allowing students to familiarize themselves with the four campuses.

CIT’s President, Dr Barry O’Connor, says “Visiting CIT, students will see a vibrant modern campus with a full range of facilities, designed to give students the best experience possible of Third Level education. In CIT, the individual student and student facilities are the focal points for all campus activities.  During the Open Day, staff will be on hand to outline the ever-expanding range of programmes and programme options available in our catalogue of profession-focused offerings, from undergraduate through to postgraduate. Recognised as the single biggest centre of engineering education on the island of Ireland, CIT also continues to diversify and develop new programmes across the key areas of Business, Science, Arts/Humanities, Sport & Well-being and the Social Sciences. Our modularized and semesterised structure allows students the possibility of customizing their studies by availing of Free Choice Modules,  across each year of their studies and appropriate work placement opportunities allied to their choice of career path “.
