Education in Employment
The latest report under the Education in Employment project; Recognition of Prior Learning: A Focus on Practice, was launched on Monday, 7th December.
The Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) supports new approaches to enhancing quality and effectiveness within higher education and research, incorporating the use of existing resources (including capital resources) more effectively, as well as new funding. Cork Institute of Technology is the lead partner in two SIF funded projects:
Education in Employment:
The focus of this project is on offering relevant education and progression opportunities to those already “in employment” rather than those preparing “for employment” and to provide access routes for the non-traditional student. The Education in Employment Consortium is focused on a model of education development, delivery, support and assessment designed to meet the needs of the learner in the workplace in a way that is sympathetic to their circumstances.

Roadmap for Employment – Academic Partnerships :
REAP is a collaborative project involving eight Higher Education Institutional partners, for the research, development and validation of a Higher Education- Industry Partnership Model and Roadmap. The project aims to identify learning needs within the workplace, draw up a comprehensive model for partnership between employers and Higher Education Institutions and verify the effectiven¬ess of the model through a range of demonstrator collaborative activities. The main aim is to develop a mechanism to integrate and rationalise complementary initiatives and offer a relevant, inclusive framework to facilitate interaction with the workplace.
