Senior Entrepreneur Action Programme Takes Shape in CIT

Senior Entrepreneur Action Programme Takes Shape in CIT

Published on: Friday, 25 September 2015

The Hincks centre in CIT hosted a number of European visitors last week with the aim of creating a customised programme tailored to unemployed seniors interested in becoming self-employed or entrepreneurs.

The Mybusiness collaborative project identified needs of groups of unemployed seniors by conducting research across the six partner countries. CIT are working with partners from Greece, Spain, Austria, Romania and Belgium to achieve the project goals.

The objective of this project is to create, on the basis of the group’s identified needs, a Senior Entrepreneur Action Programme.  This programme design will aim to strengthen entrepreneurial skills and competences while taking advantage of the wealth of experience in this group.  Promoting self-confidence and improving entrepreneurial self-efficacy will play a big role in the training programme.

An in-depth study of the situation and job prospects of senior unemployed across Europe has set the context and helped to define the specific needs for this project in order to offer a well informed and targeted solution.
The group busily worked over the two days in Cork perfecting the plan for developing the senior entrepreneur action programme. A welcomed break was had when the group was treated to a detailed tour of the Rubicon Centre, CIT’s on campus innovation centre.  The hard working entrepreneurs and the suite of programmes on offer in the centre provided great inspiration to the European visitors.
