A very original and colourful exhibition of thematic art work by 1st and 3rd Year Early Childhood Care and Education students opened on Tueday 5 May at the James Barry Exhibition Centre. The exhibition features costumes and a storyboard related to Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach. The aim of the exhibition is to showcase the students' work, expressed in 2 and 3 dimensional forms, using a variety of techniques. These include printmaking, painting, paper weaving, collage and papier–mache. The students have acquired these skills in Art and Design, over the past 3 years, in their Early Childhood Care and Education (Art) course. The first year students' display, illustrates skills on Costume Design. Colour-coding and the manipulation of various fabrics, form the core of the costume display. |
