"Project Manager of the Year" Award presented at CIT

Linda Walsh, who works with Abtran in Cork, has been named as the 2014 Project Management Student of the Year at the annual Cork Institute of Technology Diploma in Project Management Awards Ceremony. Linda was selected as winner based both on her academic performance and for the manner in which she applied the good practices of Project Management into the workplace.

Pat Lucey, Managing Director of AspiraCon, the Irish Project Management specialist firm, presented the award. Mr Lucey said: “As an Officer of the PMI Ireland Chapter, I want to congratulate Linda and acknowledge the excellent performance that was demonstrated by participants in the Diploma in Project Management course offered by CIT. The PMI encourages collaboration between academia and industry and CIT is leading the way in offering PM courses that focus on industry certification while also delivering academic credits towards Degree or Masters level qualifications.”

Other Special Recognition awards presented on the night went to Colin O’Scannaill of Apple in recognition of his excellent academic performance and to Vincent Ryan of C&C in recognition of his application of his Project Management knowledge into the workplace.

CIT CAMMS Centre Director, Daithí Fallon, said: “The CIT Diploma in Project Management experience is an example of how close collaboration between CIT Academic experts in Project Management and key industry practitioners can work together to develop what we believe is a ‘Best-in-Class’ offering in the area of Project Management. I am delighted to recognise the success of Linda, Colin, Vincent and their colleagues in successfully completing their studies and receiving their Diplomas.”
