CIT hosts National Tourism & Hospitality Research in Ireland Conference

CIT's Department of Tourism & Hospitality will host the annual Tourism and Hospitality Research in Ireland Conference (THRIC) on its campus in Bishopstown on 3rd & 4th April 2014. For detailed information, please visit www.cit.ie/thric.


 
This Conference will see close to 100 delegates participating from Institutes of Technology and Universities across Ireland. Over thirty research papers will be presented covering areas such as the culinary, hospitality and tourism sectors. Minister Sean Sherlock, TD, will officially open the conference on Thursday, 3rd April and Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Catherine Clancy, will be the guest of honour at the Conference Gala Dinner which will be held on Thursday, 3rd April, in the Maryborough House Hotel.
 
Adrian Gregan, Head, Department of Tourism & Hospitality said: “We are delighted to host this year’s conference which is an important date in the calendar for the tourism research community and an ideal opportunity for dissemination and presentation of emerging research in the tourism sector. I would like to acknowledge the support of Failte Ireland in facilitating us in the running of this event.”
 
Keynote speakers at this year’s conference include international tourism experts such as Professor Stephen Boyd, University of Ulster; Dr John O’Connell, Cranfield University; Dr Niall Smith, CIT; Professor Mark Saunders, University of Surrey; David McNulty, Tourism Development International; and Professor John Lennon, Moffat Centre.
 
The Department of Tourism & Hospitality at CIT encompasses the areas of Culinary Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Bar Management. It has over 700 students and a team of dedicated, student-centred, industry experienced lecturers across these disciplines and is located in a modern purpose-built building on CIT’s Bishopstown Campus.
