Admission Requirements:
Applicants should hold a minimum of a NFQ Level 7 qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architecture or Architectural Technology or in a cognate discipline.
Course summary
This newly developed course, will cover the all of the main building types, and their fire safety certification legislation and guidance documents, and should be invaluable to both new users of the relevant fire safety codes, and those that may enjoy a refresher course. All building designers and many contractors will find this short course useful, particularly those involved in fire safety design, and certification of building projects.

Course Fee: €650 which includes all course notes and exam/assessment fees.
This fire engineering course, will cover many building types, and their fire safety certification legislation and guidance documents, and should be invaluable to both new users of the relevant fire safety codes, and those that may enjoy a refresher course. Fire Engineering design from first principles will also be covered in some detail. All building design professionals and many specialist contractors will find this short course useful, particularly those involved in fire safety design, and fire certification of building projects. (This is a sister module to Fire Safety Engineering which covers other building types and different areas of fire engineering design from first principles).

Delivery Mode A – On-Campus Attendance:
Typically, the hours will be 6pm – 9pm Friday evenings and 9am – 4pm Saturdays for a total of four weekends.
Delivery Mode B – Online Delivery:
Subject to demand, the Department will also offer a web based distance learning delivery of this programme available for part-time students; the course can be completed in one semester (12/13 weeks).

Award
Single Module Certification (5 ECTS credits at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications).
- An online course is offered for semester 2 of the 2022/2023 academic year commencing on Monday evening 16th January 2023 and running for 12/13 weeks. There will be a 3-hour lecture (including some tutorials) each evening.
- Offers of places on the course will be issued at least one week in advance of the course start date; the full course fee of €650 will be payable online upon acceptance of an offer.
