CIT is offering eighteen courses under the Springboard+ Initiatives, with places for two hundred and seventy-nine job seekers. Courses available include intensive conversion courses in Cloud Computing, Mobile Software Development and Data Science and Analytics as well as courses in Automation, Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing, Lean Six Sigma Methodologies, Environment and Energy Engineering and Plant and Piping Design.
This year, CIT is also delighted to offer courses in Building Information Modelling and Architectural Green Practice. These courses, designed and developed in close collaboration with industry partners, provide a dynamic pipeline of job-ready graduates, with up-to-the-minute skills, and valuable qualifications, for sectors of the Irish economy that are expanding and recruiting.
Since 2011, the Exchequer investment of €85 million has allowed 20,000 jobseekers to partake in Springboard courses. Data from the Department of Social Protection shows that 74% of those participants are now in employment. CIT has an excellent record of success under the Springboard Initiative with very positive outcomes for its students.
One such student, Ciara Conlon, gained employment after completing the Higher Diploma in Cloud Computing: “Coming from a town planning background, I had absolutely no background in IT and wanted to up-skill in a high employment industry without having the expense, or time, to start with a fresh degree course. The flexible element of the programme was an enormous advantage considering I had two pre-school children. Completing this course has really improved my employability and turned my career around.” Ciara was employed in a full time position in VM Ware, one month prior to completing the course, and has since moved into a new role as a Project Leader in the Global Technical Support team.
