CIT Rísam PhD Scholarship

The official award ceremony celebrating the successful Rísam Scholar applicants from 2019 and 2020 will be shown here on Tuesday, 15th December, 2020 at 6.00pm

This event will showcase the success of the Rísam Scholarship Scheme, as well as the achievements of the successful applicants and the CIT postgraduate research agenda. The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis for research proposals aligned with CIT’s Research Prioritisation thematic areas.  



Rísam Programme 2021

Cork Institute of Technology (CIT)/ Munster Technological University (MTU) will welcome applications for the Rísam PhD Scholarship Programme 2021 in mid Semeter 2 of academic year 2020/2021. The Irish word Rísam, meaning “to strive or achieve”, underlines the purpose of this scholarship programme which is to promote high-end research directed towards the generation of new knowledge or original applications of existing knowledge.

The Rísam Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and research proposals must be aligned with CIT’s Research Prioritisation Thematic areas: 

  • Information & Communications Technology

  • Maritime, Energy & Sustainable Environment

  • Life Sciences & Wellbeing

  • Health & Exercise

  • Photonics

  • Creative Arts & Multimedia

  • Education & Learning

  • Entrepreneurship, Competitiveness and Innovation
